Foreign visitors pay between IDR 20,000 and IDR 50,000 for the main panoramic viewpoint. If you want to hike down to the base and Goa Tetes, expect an extra fee of IDR 10,000 to 20,000. Parking costs IDR 5,000 for motorbikes and up to IDR 20,000 for cars.
You do not strictly need a guide for the viewpoint. However, a guide is highly recommended for the steep descent to the canyon floor. Local guides help you navigate slippery rocks, cross rivers safely, and show you the proper paths.
No, a 4WD jeep is not required for Tumpak Sewu itself. You can reach the Lumajang entrance parking lot in a standard car or on a scooter. 4WD jeeps are only necessary if your tour includes Mount Bromo on the same trip.

It was an excellent day enjoying nature. The driver came on time, did his job professionally and safe for us, the group was only 5 of us and some more people joined us at the waterfall, guides were nice and took care of us so we had many time at the waterfall, everyone returned happy! Moreover almost the whole day I got to see a marvellous Semeru volcano, what an awesome day!
